2G/3G/LTE antennas are devices used in second-generation, third-generation and fourth-generation mobile communication networks. The following will introduce them from the perspectives of type, characteristics, main parameters, etc.:

  2G/3G LTE Antennas type

Omnidirectional antenna: It can radiate and receive signals evenly in the horizontal direction at 360°, so that devices in all directions around it can receive relatively uniform signal strength. Its advantage is that it has a wide coverage range and is suitable for places that require all-round coverage, such as open squares in cities, rural areas, etc., and can provide communication services for a large number of scattered mobile devices around.

Directional antenna: It has strong directivity, and the signal is concentrated in a specific direction for transmission and reception, which can achieve a longer transmission distance and stronger signal strength in this direction. It is often used in point-to-point or point-to-multipoint communication scenarios, such as signal transmission between two distant base stations, or for covering areas in a specific direction, such as along highways, railways and other narrow strips.

Smart antenna: Through adaptive algorithms and signal processing technology, it can automatically adjust the antenna's directional pattern and gain to adapt to different signal environments and user distributions. It can dynamically form beams according to the user's location and signal strength, focus the signal on the user, improve signal quality and system capacity, and reduce interference to other users. It is mainly used on the base station side to improve network performance and coverage quality.

  2G/3G LTE Antennas Features

Multi-band support: It can cover multiple frequency bands, such as 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz, etc., to adapt to the 2G, 3G, and LTE network frequency band requirements of different regions and operators, and ensure normal operation in various network environments.

Strong compatibility: It can be compatible with multiple communication standards, supporting 2G GSM, CDMA, 3G WCDMA, CDMA2000, TD-SCDMA and LTE networks of different standards, so that the device can smoothly switch between networks of different generations to ensure the continuity of communication.

High performance: The use of advanced antenna technology and design, such as MIMO (multiple input multiple output) technology, beamforming technology, etc., can improve signal transmission efficiency, spectrum utilization and anti-interference ability, thereby improving network throughput and coverage.

Miniaturization and integration: With the development of communication technology and the demand for equipment miniaturization, 2G/3G/LTE antennas are also constantly moving towards miniaturization and integration, so as to better adapt to the installation requirements of various terminal devices and base stations, while reducing costs and power consumption.

  2G/3G LTE Antennas Main parameters

Frequency range: refers to the frequency range in which the antenna can work effectively. Generally, it is necessary to cover the frequency bands used by 2G, 3G, and LTE networks, such as 698-960MHz, 1710-2170MHz, 2500-3800MHz, etc., to ensure compatibility with the corresponding communication system.

Gain: Used to measure the ability of the antenna to concentrate the input power for radiation, and the commonly used unit is dBi. The higher the gain, the stronger the signal strength of the antenna in a specific direction and the longer the transmission distance. Generally, the gain of an omnidirectional antenna is around 2-5dBi, and the gain of a directional antenna can reach more than 10dBi.

Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR): Indicates the matching degree between the antenna and the feeder, reflecting the reflection of the antenna to the signal. The smaller the VSWR, the higher the power transmission efficiency between the antenna and the feeder. Generally, the VSWR is required to be less than 2.0, and ideally close to 1.0.

Polarization: Common polarization modes include vertical polarization and horizontal polarization. There are also dual-polarized antennas, which have both vertical polarization and horizontal polarization. Dual-polarized antennas can improve the reception quality and anti-interference ability of signals, and are widely used in practical applications.

  2G/3G LTE Antennas Application scenarios

Base station coverage: used for mobile communication base stations to achieve signal coverage of surrounding areas and provide voice calls, data transmission and other services for a large number of mobile users. According to the type of base station and coverage requirements, antennas of different types and gains can be selected. For example, macro base stations usually use high-gain directional antennas, while micro base stations and indoor distribution systems mostly use omnidirectional antennas or low-gain directional antennas.

In-vehicle communication: installed on vehicles, providing signal connection for in-vehicle communication equipment, supporting vehicle navigation, remote monitoring, vehicle networking and other functions, enabling vehicles to interact and communicate with the outside world, and meeting the communication needs of vehicles during driving.

IoT devices: In IoT applications, 2G/3G/LTE antennas can be used to connect various IoT devices, such as smart meters, smart water meters, environmental monitoring sensors, smart home devices, etc., to achieve remote communication and data transmission between devices to support the operation and management of IoT systems.
