LoRa 915MHz antenna is an antenna used in LoRa communication system and works in 915MHz frequency band. Here is an introduction to it:

  Features

Band advantage: 915MHz band belongs to ISM band and is widely used in LoRa communication in North America, Australia, New Zealand and other regions. This band has a wide bandwidth and is suitable for high-speed data transmission.

Transmission distance: In an open environment, LoRa 915MHz antenna can achieve a transmission distance of several kilometers, which can meet the communication needs of IoT devices in different environments such as cities and rural areas.

Anti-interference ability: Linear frequency modulation spread spectrum (CSS) modulation technology is used to expand the original narrowband signal to a wider frequency band, enhancing the signal's anti-interference ability.

Low power consumption: With the low power consumption characteristics of LoRa technology, IoT devices can operate stably for a long time when powered by batteries, reduce the frequency of battery replacement, and reduce maintenance costs.

  Types

Omnidirectional antenna: such as 915MHz 5.8dbi fiberglass antenna (model db-fw2090-915m), vertical polarization, omnidirectional radiation, 360° uniform radiation and reception of signals in the horizontal direction, suitable for places requiring all-round coverage, and the gain is generally around 5dbi.

Directional antenna: such as 915MHz 14dbi outdoor directional lora yagi antenna (model tyc-90930-14e), with strong directionality, the signal is concentrated in a specific direction for transmission and reception, and can achieve a longer transmission distance and stronger signal strength in this direction, and is often used in point-to-point or point-to-multipoint communication scenarios.

Magnetic antenna: such as 915MHz lora antenna magnetic mounting (model db-ms290-915m), can be adsorbed on the metal surface through a magnetic base, easy and flexible installation, suitable for use in mobile devices or temporary installation scenarios, and the gain is usually around 5dbi.

Onboard antenna: such as 915MHz antenna coils (model db-a0404-915m-s), directly soldered on the PCB board, small size, space-saving, suitable for embedded devices with strict size requirements, relatively low gain, generally around 2dbi.

  Main parameters

Frequency range: generally covers 902MHz to 928MHz, with a center frequency of 915MHz, ensuring matching with the operating frequency of the LoRa device to achieve efficient communication.

Gain: A measure of the antenna's ability to concentrate the input power for radiation, commonly used in units of dBi. The higher the gain, the stronger the signal strength of the antenna in a specific direction and the longer the transmission distance. Common gain values include 3dBi, 5dBi, 8dBi, etc.

Voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR): Indicates the degree of matching between the antenna and the feeder. The smaller the VSWR, the higher the power transmission efficiency between the antenna and the feeder. Generally, the VSWR is required to be less than 2.0, and ideally close to 1.0.

Impedance: Usually 50 ohms, matching the RF output impedance of the LoRa device to achieve maximum power transmission1.

Polarization: Mostly vertical polarization, that is, the electric field vector vibrates in the vertical direction, and has good signal stability and anti-interference ability when propagating on the ground.

  Application scenarios

Smart city: used for smart street lights, environmental monitoring, smart trash cans and other equipment to achieve intelligent management and data collection of urban infrastructure.

Industrial Internet of Things: suitable for scenarios such as remote monitoring, asset tracking, energy management, etc., to help companies improve production efficiency and management level.

Agricultural Internet of Things: can be applied to smart irrigation, crop monitoring, livestock management and other fields to achieve precision agriculture and improve agricultural production efficiency.

Logistics and supply chain: used for cargo tracking, warehouse management, cold chain monitoring, etc., to grasp the location and status of goods in real time and optimize the logistics distribution process.

Smart home: supports smart security, environmental control, health monitoring and other functions to provide users with a more convenient, comfortable and safe home living environment.
